Return To ShopThis is a aromatic and full bodied yet elegant stylish wine. The aromatics and intensity of flavour are fabulously full of the peachy and tropical fruit flavours for which the variety is renowned in its home in Spain and Portugal. A portion of barrel fermentation has added richness and complexity to this delicious wine.
2020 was an amazing harvest when the fruit ripened early, in an incredibly dry summer that was blessed with cool nights. As this was the first crop off young vines the yields were very light. The fruit was hand harvested, whole cluster pressed and fermented in both 600 litre demi muid and small tanks. Wild yeast was utilized for fermentation and the wine was left on its lees (40% in large French oak barrels) with regular stirring till blending and bottling. 200 cases only were bottled.
This is a single vineyard wine from the Two Terraces Vineyard owned by Ian and Linda Quinn As the name suggests the vineyard stretches over two gravelly river terraces formed by the Ngaruroro River at Marekakaho. This is a very warm and dry site, with cool nights which helps with the retention of acidity.
